The Quest for Papad.
A quest for a famous papad shop deep in the gullies of Amritsar led to a discovery of some amazing colour palettes, tones and textures that are a result of being forgotten.

Ghosts of the Post Office.

Tucked away on the beautiful village road, right beside The Shaka Surf Club exists the worlds most charming post office. Its a small room staffed by a single employee with nothing but the ocean and some monsters to keep her company. These monsters come alive every year during the annual village festivities where I imagine they put on quite a show! But for the rest of the year, they chill peacefully, taking in the fresh sea air and keeping a stern eye on the daily proceedings of the post office :) Canon A1 //CineStill 50D
Srinagar.
Sunset on Dal lake with an expired roll of Fuji turned out to be one of the most calming experiences ever. We were just wrapping up a shoot on a house boat and took a small walk through the floating village that makes up this bizarre yet beautiful community of the lake. Lucky to have got a few moments to chill and just watch the sky play with the colours of the water.

Lopsang's folks I.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to travel to a beautiful semi-nomadic village a few hours away from Leh, to film with some of the most amazing human beings. We were doing a story on some shepherds and how climate change is affecting their way of life. Got a chance to interact with this one family in particular and they were unbelievably warm and welcoming. Here is Lopsang's mother, she always had the largest smile and the sweetest chai :)

Lopsang's folks II.

Here is Lopsang's father, he is one of the most energetic souls, running up and down steep hills at that altitude. Here he was shy to smile because he said his teeth were broken :)

Dawn Prayers.

We got a chance to witness the early morning prayer at a small monastery near Leh. Just so happened that we also got to witness the early onset of bad weather that would be a big part of our shoot for the next few days. But these moments of peace and calm and silence were worth every minute of the storm.

Poorna.

A few months ago, I went film shopping with a friend and came home with something funky called 'Color Implosion' by Adox . Decided to pair that with my trusty underwater Minolta and take it to my favourite place in the world. Here's one from the roll of hero number vun Poorna paddling into some small swell on a beautiful day!

The Approach.

A few hours due south of Bombay harbour is this magical little island that is home to the Kanhoji Angre Lighthouse. Every year, the yacht club organises a weekend cruise where we get an incredible opportunity to sleep under the stars as this beautiful beam of light continuously makes its way across the ocean all around us. Sadly though, they have begun major construction of a jetty on the island which is slowly turning this beautiful rock into just another cluster fuck.

Chaos.
Our yearly pilgrimage to The Shaka Surf Club always includes a manic fish market run as part of prep for the big New year's barbecue. Every year we try something new on the grill, and the Malpe fish market is just the place for experimentation. Sunrise onwards, this place is just alive with people, bizarre sea creatures and some amazing colours and tones. Haggling is a big part of the exercise and because when we land up they immediately spot a quick buck, we make sure we bring our trusted representative along to make sure we don't get taken for a ride!
